Influence can be defined as the power exerted over the minds and behavior of others. A power that can affect, persuade and cause changes to someone or something. In order to influence people, you first need to discover what is already influencing them. What makes them tick? What do they care about? We need some leverage to work with when we’re trying to change how people think and behave.

Absolutely excellent article! Will be buying your books. Currently, in the U.S. the unreasoned arguments against immigrants are so hostile that those of us who do understand the benefits of the free movement of people really have our work cut out for us.

I failed to see discussion of true social factors such as health care, social aid, free schooling, infinitium. The 'too be immigrants' do not pay taxes to offset the cost of those services, thus they are a detriment. Hospitals, schools, and public assistance agencies all receive state and federal monies to offset their operating costs.
You also failed to address the change in the political scene that will most likely turn the country into a social welfare state due to the inclination of politicians to cast votes to stay in office rather than for what is in the best interest of the nation.

You have only taken economic and some vague social factors into consideration. I agree with Bob above that an argument on immigration that does not treat OVERPOPULATION and the ENVIRONMENT as core concerns is a total non-starter. You seem to think clearly and should be able to see this for yourself.

Not a word about overpopulation or environmental degradation, and thus not a good argument.
